On 5th September 2025, the Muzew Tekniku Vincenzo Bugeja – Istituto Tecnico Vincenzo Bugeja Workshops was officially inaugurated following a management agreement between the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja Foundation and the Malta Industrial Heritage Association (MIHA).
The agreement was signed by Mr Andrew Mamo, Chairperson of Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja Foundation, and Perit Vincent Cassar, President of MIHA, marking an important step in safeguarding Malta’s industrial heritage and opening the historic workshops to the public.
In his address, Mr Mamo recalled Vincenzo Bugeja’s philanthropic vision, noting that the Marquis established the Conservatorio in 1880 to support young women facing difficult circumstances, alongside the Istituto Vincenzo Bugeja, Malta’s first technical school. The workshops continue to preserve original machinery installed more than a century ago, maintained through the Foundation’s ongoing care.
The inauguration was attended by national and cultural representatives and was blessed by Mons. Joseph Galea Curmi, Auxiliary Bishop, in the presence of Hon. Minister Michael Falzon.
